First Thing Timed by Your Speedmaster?

Just having a bit of fun here. I remember the first thing that I timed using my brand new Speedy was the duration of a flight heading home from overseas. Can you remember what was the first thing you timed with yours?

Don't recall. Probably was an occasion timing mile markers when I was bored while driving I-10 in Texas between Fort Stockton and Balmorhea.

A plane flight. If I’m wearing a chronograph on a plane I often start it at wheels up and end it at wheels down.

I can’t time food with a count up timer. I need a count down and an alarm otherwise I overcook everything.

I agree with you on timing food. Must have an alarm. Otherwise I can just as well use any ol’ watch I’m wearing rather than fiddling with a chronograph watch.

First thing no idea... but often how long it takes the ISS - International Space Station to pass over in the night sky visible to us !

I remember that I planned to use it to time a drive between our place in Michigan and a home my wife used to own in the Washington DC suburbs. But when Covid hit, we never made the drive again, and we sold the DC place some months later. So, knowing me, I'm sure I used it for something far less adventurous: timing the boil on a pot of spaghetti.

I’ve read mixed things if the 3861 seconds hand can be left on by default will it damage or wear down faster.

That’s like asking the guy who spent six months, alone, on a remote outpost in the Arctic Circle. Several days after he arrived back home to be warmly greeted by his wife, a friend asked him what was the first thing he did when he got home. His reply was that he was unable to answer that question for personal reasons. His friend asked what was the second thing he did when he got home. He replied that he took his skis off!

I clocked the speed my wife was driving back from somewhere the other day. I was bored in the car and clicked at the first mile marker I saw.

"You're going sixty-three miles an hour."
"What? How?"
"I just calculated it with the tachymetre on my watch."
"You are a strange man."

The last thing I timed was a flight that was 4hr 22min wheels up to wheels down.
