Zodiac Olympos (new version): thoughts?

I’m sort of drawn to this watch—aesthetically. Haven’t had a chance to try one on yet. I know Zodiac gets some grief for being a Fossil brand now, but the vintage and military vibe with this particular dial are appealing to me, and it could make a decent everyday option when I don’t feel like wearing a more expensive Omega.

$895 feels out of line for this, but if I could haggle down to 6-something, it could be conscionable.

Just curious to know other people’s thoughts, especially (but not only) if you’ve actually seen one of these in the metal.

Dial and hands are fine, but the case is a little too strange for me.

I like it.

I've always liked old Zodiac, even their vintage models beyond the iconic Sea Wolf. Four vintage Zodiacs live here. Have intended to pick up a vintage Zodiac Olympos just for fun.

I could enjoy a stainless steel Olympos case with a black dial and full set of numeral markers. Who cares about the Fossil connection! That's like poor Glycine becoming yoked to Invicta.

If a new Zodiac Olympos turned up for a "real deal" it might have to have a home here.

Bought one (not this version however), because I own an original one and thought I could wear the new and avoid wear damage.
At the end of the day the new one ended in a drawer, the case and dial lack the elegance of the original one.

That case is not for me. It gives me a Murph vibe though. I’d go for the Hamilton which you could probably get at a lower price.

Yup, Hamilton is maybe my second favorite brand (after Omega, naturally), and I’m seriously considering the Murph, as well as a few other models. The Zodiac caught my eye—I think I like the case but can’t quite make my mind up about it.

My only vintage is a Zodiac Astrographic SST.
