Hello.
Zenith cal. 135 with captain's case 36.5 mm, steel. I already have a cal 135 gold-plated captain in my collection, but this was the first time I saw a steel one and I had to buy it. Do you think everything looks original?

I’m no expert on these ( or much else to be truthful ) but it looks original to me….. apart from the unfortunate marks on the back where some idiot in the dark distant past seems to have used a bloody jackhammer to undo the case back!
Other than that it’s a loverly watch.

Hi

looks original to me …. This is the largest screwback case at 36.5 ( measured between 12 and 6) Zenith offered.

I gave one in my collection ….. I wrote about these like 20 years ago …
from my notes about my example ..

Zenith Chronometre in a steel screwback case 36.5 mm "Captain" case..
- Produced : 02.09.1960
- Series of 50 pieces
- Calibre 135
- Reference 2/3200

I don’t know if they had more than one production run.

congratulations
Bill
Ps here a photo of mine and a group shot at a zenith event in NYC about 2 years ago

Thanks for your post. I read about these 50 pieces in the captain case. Did this apply to gold, gold plated and steel cases? If so, I have two pieces in my collection and I sold one to Finland. I took the first photo of the newest acquisition with the remaining Zenith cal 135 from my collection. I'll have to buy a box for it.

Hi

I dont remeber seeing a 18k gold example , yours is the first ... and the 50 I think were in reference to the steel example.... I would get certs from Zenith for both captain cased examples you have...

Good hunting

I will do that, I will apply for an extract for two Zeniths in the captain's case. Zenith has
very poor information about the number of copies of the product and where it is sold. I once applied for an extract on a 106 Zenith, because it was assumed that it could be a military prototype, and look how poor the information I received

Hi

nice looking watch !

When I wrote to Zenith about the captain its was like the late 1990s …. What I posted about the ref and number is what they emailed me.
It tough when you have a common example
Of a watch from a big house ….
I don’t have a great answer for you on that.

so your gold example is not solid ? It’s plate ?
Best

The second watch in the captain's case is gold-plated, also a second series 135. The caliber 135 of the second series is also a Port Royal in a gold case. Steel "Small" - 35 mm is the first series of caliber 135
