Hi I'm new to the forum. I've inherited a Zenith watch, and wondered if anyone could help with some information regarding this watch. I am sorry for the bad pictures. The clock is now in service at authorized dealer. Better pictures to come when I get it in return.
Beautiful late 60's deep diver, originally rated to a depth of 1000m. These came with black, yellow, orange or blue dials. I don't think I've seen this combination of yellow outer bezel, yellow minute register, and black dial before, but it looks good. Probably a cal 2542pc or 2552pc. The yellow ones usually look like this:
You might want to check with the authorised dealer whether they will polish the watch, replace hands crowns etc. If you don't want anything changed then best to let them know this just in case
Very nice indeed! I like these Zenith divers a lot and have its little brother with the same colour scheme
It is an AH3639 If you need reassurance about Zenith's service then: https://omegaforums.net/threads/aurantiaco-maximus.23778/#post-260882 I would suggest that you check with them to make sure that they return any replaced parts to you.
Thanks. There were many clarifying answers in this thread. Is there anyone who can say how rare this watch is? (how many were produced?) Also I wonder what is the difference between caseback with and without star. My watch is without star on the caseback and the original Zenith bracelet is stamped 3/68
Even if inheriting something often means that sorrow is involved I have to say congratulations. Congratulations to a very sought after watch. As others already have pointed out - make sure that whoever does the service knows what they are doing and that as little as possible is changed, altered or substituted. And if - that you get the parts back. I have dreamt of finding an orange one. I am happy with my all black but orange is so much nicer. The world is full of black divers watches.
Hello again, Wow you're quite the Zenith collector. Could you take a look at this 28800 from 68 and tell me if you've ever seen one or you think it's Homemade? Thanks William (still like to buy your florescent green watch. Don't need the bracelet if you're short-handed or the Defy (2nd choice; just got one w/ladder bracelet) w/orange dial. No pressure. Thanks for looking at this 28800 from 68. don't want to buy a homemade watch but love it.
