Most traveled watch? Definitely my beloved Seiko 6309-7049 automatic. Purchased new in 1987 at the NAS Whiting Field NEX...flown during Navy pilot training and flown in the fleet...adventures to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Seychelles, Oman, and Australia. It’s also been flown at the airlines...adventures to Flint (MI), Rochester (NY), and Jackson (MS)...and tons of other amazing U.S. locations. 😁

It was a 2254.50.00 and my G-SHOCK has done the rounds. But in terms of miles and sketchy places from flights to ferry - DSOTM is my go to most times now. I have banged it a few times but no cracks or scratches + it is nicely understated

My Fortis. My first real watch and definitely most-travelled companion. It's been with me through 4 job changes, to the top of mountains, to beaches and brunches, in countless airplanes, to numerous weddings all over the country, bike trails & hikes, break-ups, funerals, and family holidays; steadfastly on my wrist while I shook the hands of my heroes. Recently, I treated my companion to its first service which was admittedly past-due. It's running supremely well, btw. The watchmaker called to verify that I didn't want any polishing or a new crystal. I told him I want every scratch on it to remain just as they are. He understood and obliged. Though my speedy is one of my grail watches, this tried and true partner in crime holds the special spot in my heart. It has been irradiated with some of the best memories I have and sometimes when life slows down just enough, and I look down at my companion, I can almost feel all the feelings I had while making those memories, good or bad, radiating back out and embedding themselves deeper into my mind. For this, I am grateful.

I bought a TAG Heuer 1500 series watch in Singapore when my wife and I were moving back home from Papua New Guinea in 1992. We didn't have a lot of money back then, so that was my only decent watch for approx. 15 years until I got my 2254.50. It went everywhere with me and I even maintained the seals for Scuba diving for much of that time. It has been all over the world, as most of my jobs have involved travel. I had LVMH do a major service and crystal replacement 12 years ago and it is still my go to watch for travel.

📖 Well when the next port west of Darwin is further than England to Croatia....
Speedmaster can travel from a few thousand to 5 thousand kilometres a week at work regularly.
When you fly 2000km to get on a chopper to go to a oil rig 200km off the coast. Two days after flying 650km one way to clear a vessel the kms add up quick.

Then there is the offshore trips.
In Hawaii a few weeks back.

Definitely my trusty Planet Ocean! It was on my wrist 24/7 from 2010 to 2018. Here we are “daytime drinking” on Vieques, an island off the coast of Puerto Rico. The delicious and refreshing local beer, Medalla, flows all day on that little slice of paradise.

These two shared duty during my Park Service days- they traveled 46 of the lower 48 and Hawaii. The Speedy for assignments in more arid environments and white glove assignments.

The GMT was the beater for wet work and places way off the beaten path where I knew it would get nasty- also travel where air flight was required (I did use the GMT function for whatever time zone I was in).

They both were “cheap” when I bought them and just old watches. They really took serious beatings and despite a few cracked crystals, a mangled bezel (Speedy), a broken bracelet (GMT) and dozens of hard scrubs in hotel sinks, they never failed, never leaked, never missed a beat.

I don't have a pic of my own anymore - long story - but my most traveled was my 2561.80 that I often wore as a daily from about '09 to 2018, when it was unfortunately stolen.

I did something like 10 countries, 25 states, and countless flights back and forth to L.A. for work for a long time with 'Lil Blue on my wrist - quartz or not, still the one I miss the most!

Over one hundred thousand motorcycle miles.

That’s apart from countless hours in Miatas (1990 & 2003), on plane trips cross country and overseas, commuting train and subway rides, cross country hikes (including my favorites, bitter cold winter hikes)…

It was a ‘cheap’ watch when I bought it in the late 80’s, so I’ve never treated it as anything but just a watch.

My favorite watch.

^^^ yup. I find it funny when I see people handling their watches with gloves. If those folks saw the literal shit I put my watches through.....

Definitely my Seamaster 600, I've been wearing that watch in quite a lot of my work travels, as far as I remember it has flown to Turkey, Russia, Saudi, UAE, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden, France, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia...

Just found my old watch from the Army, a Casio AW-20. Bought it to go to Desert Storm. Afterwards, it went on a 3 week trip on my leave throughout Scotland, flying into Glasgow then trains to Edinburgh, Sterling Castle, Perth, car rental at Elgin to tour the distilleries in River Spey area, then Inverness, Thurso, Bannockburn at some pount, Portree, and then a walk along a mountain ridge (can't remember name), stop at Glenfiddich Piping competition at Duke of Athol's castle, back to Glasgow. Best trip ever.

Misplaced the watch some time after this. I wasn't into watches then and for years to come (raising a family, remodeling non-stop.)

Fun story about these pictures. They gave us new uniforms to go home. Didn't want us to look dirty. Everything got burned, uniforms, body armor. (Huge waste. We couldn't touch the ground on our lay over in Germany. They had raised wood floors that we had to walk on, worried about contamination. )

We flew back on chartered commercial flights because we were attachments and not part of a full unit. After we landed in the states (? I think Mass or Conn), we took a regular commercial flight back to our post in Maryland. Trouble was we had our weapons and they didn't want us to carry them on board. They wanted us to put them in baggage but we said no way were we letting these out of our sight.

The compromise was we broke them down, put them in our duffel bags and carried the bolt in our pockets.

Someday I hope to revisit Scotland with my wife and speedmaster. Right now I need a get a battery for this watch and find a strap.
