I searched but could find a tread on this topic.
This is mine, I think is was a Timex automatic. I remember being a bit disappointed, since all the grown ups said Timex was no good. But I loved the bund strap. It later was damaged when I was a goalie and did a save with my left hand. The rotor weight fell off, and the watchmaker deemed it irreparable. This was back in the early 70`s.

Edit: This sould have been posted in the open discussion tread, sorry

Don't remember the first, nor the second, nor even the third. But as an active teenager I destroyed each of them in a few months. Then my father who had been buying them said "Enough. Your next watch will be one you have bought with your own money." My own money for the next few years was spent on repairing bicycles I had crashed and any spare went on upgrading the bikes' components, so no watches.

He relented when it was came to my 21st birthday and paid for a Heuer Carrera which took all the abuse I gave it for over 50 years and I still wear, but not everyday any longer.

I'm pretty sure my first watches were hand me downs from grandpas that were probably swapping to quartz. Wish I'd kept them but probably didn't survive the life of an 8-10 year old. The first watches I remember choosing were an ana / digi casio with bars across the crystal (the first g shock??) and a casio calculator watch I wore for years.

I remember having a digital watch on a black/green velcro strap. But I still have what I consider my first watch. Got it in Lucerne on my first trip to Europe at about 12 years old. As a kid I fell and broke the bracelet. I brought it back to the same exact shop years later and they replaced the bracelet for free. I never do wear it anymore.

Ironman. I still occasionally cruise eBay listings, thinking I might rekindle the magic.

You won’t. The memories are always better.

Me too. Mid '70s. Spent $35 and got a Timex automatic. The gold flying saucer. Put it on the groovy strap like yours. Western Kansas so Timex was the best anyone ever had. Dropped it once. Rotor came off. Still worked but became a manual rattling Timex. I remember thinking: What about those commercials? Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

This is the first watch I purchased with a months worth of wages when I was a teenager. I still have it and is one of my most important watches in my collection. This thing has been around the world with me, my first job interviews etc etc.

I grew up in Hartford, Connecticut. In about 1966, when I was nine, I found a Benrus in the street on Albany Avenue. I wore it for several years. I remember replacing the leather strap at one point with a Spidel bracelet. It was my first watch repair. Used my pocket knife to get the spring pins off.

All the girls in the neighborhood were quite impressed!

This is my first watch and for the big bucks I paid I’m upset the chrono hand doesn’t reset perfectly. Seems a 1/4 of a millimeter off, I’m just not sure whose QC I should be mad at.

Timex Ironman

Did everything I could think of with that watch. Senti many hours in class playing with the reflection of the sun on it or just timing random stuff with the chrono function.

Still have it! Needs a battery but I'm pretty sure it would still be good to go.

Mine was a Daniel Wellington watch. I bought it in 2016. I dropped it many years ago and now it doesn't work. But it fun while a wore it. I still have it sitting somewhere in a random drawer.

Timex on a Spindel elastic band in stainless steel
My Dad bought it for me when I was in elementary school... 6th grade.

Not the actual watch... but, it was similar.
