No politics, just watches, and will you do (have you done) anything different on this Earth day?

This Timex needs a battery. (It’s my only watch on green. Same material that I used to patch the Barbour). I will walk to the store to get one instead of taking the gas guzzler. And will properly recycle the old battery.

I remember the first Earth day. I was in 9th grade and we went through the neighborhood collecting newspapers for donating to the recyling center.

At the center, someone had donated several years worth of Playboy magazines. This was unexpected but not unwelcome.

It's difficult to not have an automatic association with Earth day. Pretty sure it turned me into a lifelong environmentalist.

My sexyist watch

I have been in the garden all day setting up the new greenhouse, putting seeds in the ground and increasing the biodiversity-friendliness of the garden. Also found the time to take a photo of a beer and drink it afterwards as reward for all the hard work.

Happy Earth Day Y’all!!
The high school I attended a long time ago used Earth Day as a day of community service and action to clean/create hiking trails, clean up roadsides, plant trees, play games and generally just being outside enjoying each other and our location (Cumberland plateau in Tennessee). We try to instill the idea of service to Thing 1 and Thing 2, but we don’t have any organized plans for today…Here’s what I’m wearing to keep it fresh and real on Earth Day ‘23. Mission on Earth from @argonbeam, and the aqua terra to keep an eye on the MoonSwatch to make sure it doesn’t do anything too crazy. Have a great and awesome day Forum! Thanks again for another great thread @Duracuir1; great work on your new coat as well!! 👍

My 5-year-old has been doing earth day all week at school, so we hit the zoo to talk more about ecology, and then did a bunch of gardening. Now, we're relaxing at a local park...

...And he's barely putting up with me trying to get nice family pics in front of the flowers.

Unrelated to Earth Day, how do those indices look in everyday life? Every time I see that model at the AD, I love how the blue indices reflect the light, but I wasn't sure how it would look outside of the bright lights at the AD.

Happy Earth Day everyone! Happy to bring out one of the green watches , today!

I'm still blown away by the history of the original Earth Day. No internet, blogs, cell phones, even access to papers - yet with just a lot of word of mouth and organizing ( and t-shirts ), they pulled off an event among largest civic gatherings in our history. Here's a bit of history channel stuff if anyone's interested ( https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/earth-day )

Hey @Dsloan, I also love how the blue indices and Omega logos reflect light on this watch. With the right angle and light, the blue projects a literal rainbow of colors which is both striking and absolutely beautiful. The AT is my favorite three handed watch; so dependable, attractive and the 8900 caliber keeps great time. The indices are easily seen in both bright and low light situations, and the contrast between the indices and the dial make time telling easy inside and out.

Earth day or any other day ending in Y! Any day is a good day for my 1971 Rolex Air-King Date. In 2021, I changed the original stainless steel bezel for a NOS Rolex 14 karat yellow gold bezel I acquired about 30 years ago. One owner (me), acquired when I won it in a Rolex sales contest. The string tag (in 1971) had a retail price of $215.00! Since 2021, this has been my 50th anniversary watch. Bracelet is after market.

I know you're kidding but this is a good opportunity to add a Neil Armstrong quote.

In 1969, just before the Moon landing and the first Earth Day, Armstrong wrote an article for Life magazine. Excerpts from the article:

"...Perhaps going to the Moon and back in itself isn't all that important. But it is a big enough step to give people a new dimension in their thinking- a sort of enlightenment....From our position on the Earth it is difficult to observe where the Earth is and where it's going, or what its future course might be. Hopefully, by getting a little further away, both in the real sense and the figurative sense, we'll be able to make some people step back and reconsider their mission in the universe, to think of themselves as a group of people who constitute the crew of a spaceship going through the universe. If you’re going to run a spaceship, you've got to be pretty cautious about how you use your resources, how you use your crew, and how you treat your spacecraft..."

Just swapped back to my summer wheels/tires. No animals were hurt in the process. Although I just remembered I killed a wasp this morning. Oops…

Powered by yours truly. No battery to drop into a landfill. Happy Earth Day, everyone! (Still cold and rainy in Michigan - the gardening photos will have to wait another couple of weeks!)

Happy Earth Day...

*Edit: going for laughs so don't take it as political -- for whatever it's worth I am a Libtard through and through... and I forgot to post the watch for the day-
