Makesbelieve
·According to this site: https://www.population.io/ if I manage to live out my natural life I'll die at the ripe old age of 86.5 years old. That will have me clock out on the 6th of November 2065... that's 41 years from now...
There are currently only 3 locations in my home country of New Zealand that service Omega watches, by 2065 I think it's safe to say none will remain.
I only collect Omega watches from the 60's and 70's with the one exception being my 1999 Speedmaster Day Date. So my collection currently has a median age of about 55 years. By 2065 most of my watches will be, like myself, hitting their 80s... some will be over 100 years old.
With changing fashions, the age of the watches, and likelihood that they couldn't be serviced or wouldn't have been serviced for at least 20 years means that come the 6th of November 2065 the majority of my very 'valuable' collection will just be a pile of sentimental steel that no one is interested in.
I guess most of you are much older than me and as such still realistically believe that your collection will be of interest to someone when it comes time to shake off your mortal coils...
I don't.
For me watches are a hobby I and my family will never see a ROI on.
