X33 Preowned - or - New

When I buy watches, I very much have a problem. I buy new and than flip 3-6 months later.

Now, every time I buy a watch I expect to keep it for the rest of my life but this never happens which brings me to my question. The X33 Gen 3 I believe. New or used.

Hear me out. I would buy new from the Omega site since I don't want a pre-owned model. Also I do not want one that was sitting in an AD.
My concern is that the battery or overall functions will be worn down if I buy pre-owned or from an AD.

What do you guys think. New vs used is a 2k difference.

If you’re only going to hold it for three months, probably not an issue…

Always used, especially if you are a serial flipper. Unless you enjoy burning money.

Unless it's something that I end up keeping but it's true. I do end up flipping.

I don't enjoy it but it happens.

How about this. Buy pre-owned and test drive it for a while. If you like it, sell and replace with a new model. If you don't, sell and move on.

Not a bad idea, I might actually consider that.

I would buy the pre-owned. Both X-33 models in the pre-owned bracket will likely hold their value in the time it takes to assess it. You might pleasantly be surprised by the condition of the pre-owned and those little hairlines that the previous owner left on the watch may make you feel better about enjoying/wearing yours without being overly careful.

OP, I don’t get your question. The Renata battery is like $5 or less and you can get it changed at any OB in less than 10 min for free… so, if this is your only qualm with a pre-owner model, then by all means, go that route.

As an aside, is this watch even still available as new at boutiques? Seems like these have been drying out for a while, no?

There may be a new X33 this year... so maybe hold out for that.

There are rumors of a Swatch/Omega collaboration this year, I think.

BYW. My experience is that the battery lasts years on these.

Yes, especially if you're not using the backlight very frequently

And don’t forget you can add a canvas (sturdy)
Strap with an omega titanium deployant and the watch is light on the wrist.

Can you please share details about that canvas strap?

I had the OEM Omega NATO and loved the green color, but just am not a fan of NATO straps.

You could also check out gasgasbones who makes Velcro straps;

Seeing member @gee_cee 's strap on the forum, I became intrigued by its appearance.

A web search located the strap as a " 21mm MiLTAT Military Green Washed Canvas" from StrapCode and available direct and through Amazon.

I liked the fact that this strap is set-up for deployant buckle (in fact it comes with a nice brushed deployant that matches the watch),
as I have an Omega Titanium deployant that I use with the watch.
You will notice that strap also has curved lug ends that add a nice touch.
I now have my X-33 set-up with the strap and the Omega deployant and I am ver pleased with the look and feel. Very easy and fast to wear and has a nice tool/service look.
