·Thanks for the review. Pulled the trigger and upgraded from the X-33 2nd gen. I have to admit, the huge box it comes in is a bit of overkill... The watch is great!

·Although I have an X-33 gen 1, I felt the new version was significantly different in appearance and took the plunge and purchased one. The Skywalker wears significantly smaller than the gen 1 which is a plus for me. The only thing I miss is the arrow hour hand. However, the Skywalker hands are consistent with the Speedmaster style. Here is a photo of the new version, gen 1 and my 45.5 Planet Ocean behemoth.

Also....what is the battery life when the backlight is used "occasionally"? i.e. out in the field to check to it at night?

·I found the backlight on the Skywalker to be adequate. It isn't as bright as I thought it would be.

·Here is a photo of the backlight in complete darkness. The indices really weren't charged up. Not bad but not as bright as my original X-33. The battery in the X-33 version 1 lasted about thirty months, however I don't use the backlight much or use the alarm. Time to replace the battery.
Wow....pretty impressive lume.
I tried one on at the Omega shop in the Frankfurt Airport and I was really surprised how lightweight the watch is on the wrist. I knew it was made out of titanium....but EXTREMELY lite on the wrist.
How has it held up with nicks and scratches? Is it your daily wearer?

·Great review! One issue I had with the new X-33 (I had the Solar Impulse edition) was the backlighting function. One would think that the light would stay on while the function buttons were in use, and go out after a period of non-use, but that's not the case. It simply goes out after a preset period of time regardless of use, and the button to activate it is shared with other functions. I only wore the watch a few times, not enough to become instantly familiar with getting through the functions quickly, but it was frustrating to use in the dark and have the light go out while in the middle of a function. This seems very illogical in a piece that was so obviously carefully designed. Was there something in terms of function that I was overlooking, or is that simply something the user has to work around?

If it works in the same way as the earlier generations - you press the button, it lights for 10 seconds, then it goes out.
The backlight eats the battery... so having it on for "hours" would not be a good thing. 😉

··Oooo subtitles!Having just read this, I am rather surprised how similar the Skywalker is to the original gen 1 and 2. I had rather assumed that the 18 years of extra tech advances would make it night and day different but other than the tidied up aesthetics, slight slimming down and light on dark display (which to be fair is way nicer) there isn't a huge difference. Now some may find that a negative but I love my X-33 gen 2 so am now more inclined to this than I was before!
