X-33 Problem. 40 WEEKS. Will I last that long?

Hi all,
I’m very much a novice at watch collecting.
Please accept my apologies for any questions that a more experienced person would consider
obvious. I try. Amongst my collection I have an X-33 which I use every day and find very……pleasing. I love it. I have a rotten illness, I take 30 plus pills a day. The X-33 is the only watch that will wake me, the alarm is superlative. The watch is just the tool for the job. I suspect I’m preaching to the converted. I have a problem. Please will anyone point me in the right direction. My beloved X-33 has packed up. The hands will not sync with the LCD. Having spoken with a few Omega dealers, I concluded that it’s a “Back to Omega”
Job. Spoke to them, got the box and paperwork.
They are quoting 40 weeks. Forty weeks I nearly passed out on the spot. I expected six weeks. More fool me. The trouble is this illness thing of mine isn’t working to Omega’s time scale. Maybe I don’t have 40 weeks. It’s not pleasant but I’ve come to terms with it. If I’m going to check out, I want a decent time piece on my wrist. Until I check out I need my alarm to keep me on time with my medication. Please dose anyone know of somebody capable of sorting my X-33 out for me? My luck would be to kick the bucket whilst signing for the return of the darned thing once it’s fixed. I understand that Omega put a complete replacement movement in them at a service. Fine. That will do. I would even change a movement myself if I had no alternative. However, we all know where all the Omega parts live don’t we. If anyone knows of a movement up for grabs then I’d be very interested provided it’s not crazy money. Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give. I appreciate it very much. All the best. Mark.

Dude man that’s tough to read sorry can’t imagine how you feel. There is one for sale here from a trusted seller. I don’t know if it’s the same one you have but considering the circumstances would buying a used one make sense? Just a thought in the dark I don’t have an X-33 but your situation sounds a little more immediate I wish I had something better to offer.

I’ve heard these get sent to Switzerland to get serviced. Perhaps try speaking with the nearest Omega boutique (no matter how far it may be from you) and see what time frame they give you.

@Mfc that's a tough situation, mate.

Can't be of much help, to be honest, but I have heard that for X-33s in particular, a new movement is usually all that's done in such instances. If you were able to source one, a movement swap can be done by any competent watch fixer, as it only requires disassembly and replacing the hands.

Best of luck with your quest and your condition.

Sorry for your circumstances. I can't speak to what Omega's quoting at the moment, but I sent them my second gen X-33 last year and it was there+back in 90 days. This would've been July or August, and I had it back in October, I believe. Anyway: best of luck, and hang in there.

The hands will not sync with the LCD

Wait, have you tried the time resynchronization? Or have you tried it and it's not working?

Mine went out of sync like this out of the blue. I did this and the issue has never re-occurred.

Well that was a tough message to read and a brave message to post, take heart !

As for the X-33 I was going to suggest the time sync procedure too, it's certainly worth trying since you don't mention other problems with your watch.

The 40 weeks is consistent with my experience. About five years ago I had a LE Speedmaster that went to Bienne for a warranty repair. It was there for 9 months. Think of it as the Swiss vacation that your watch has always wanted.

Seriously, I do hope you're able to find a workable alternative to the factory service.
