I find myself at a unique crossroads, liking both a modern and vintage watch. Would you get a newer JLC Master Control Hometime, or a good condition Tudor Oysterthin 7960? I realize these watches are entirely different, and the JLC is 2X the Tudor. Let's remove price as a factor. I feel like the Tudor would be wearable any time, even playing fetch with the dog in the back yard. But I'm not so sure the JLC feels the same way. When I look at most JLC watches (not the compressors), they do not seem like GADAs. To compensate, let's remove new vs. used as a factor, both would be pre-owned.

I have neither a Tudor, or a Jaeger-LeCoultre, and I do have a mix of new and vintage.

The Tudor represents a classic piece. One I've had my eye on for a while, and I'm thinking it's time to check the box. I love this particular watch because it's thin. They were only made for a few years, and the whole Oysterthin vs "Elegante" always gives me a chuckle. It's a nice Rolex/Tudor crossover. There's a story.

Always wanted a JLC compressor. What stopped me was their sheer size, and I realized it just wouldn't be wearable at my corporate job, even though this was during the era of Big Watches. I admit my tastes have changed. There are some nice ones in the current lineup, but the GMT Hometime is a better match for me. I like GMT function and the size at 40mm.

I see nothing that would prevent the JLC from being a daily wearer - that would be my choice.

@Archer appreciate the feedback. Wish there was a dealer nearby where I could try some of their collection.
