I was able to order a PS5 from Costco a couple weeks ago, got it this past Friday. I’ve had my PS4 since launch so this is a decent upgrade. I mostly play Destiny2, fortnite, and cod/warzone. Though I’ve decided I’m going to go back and play a bunch of ps4 single player games that I ignored, on the ps5.
Here’s the text/review I sent my buddy who was waiting for his to shop up at bestbuy:
“After a few hours with the system last night, it’s a big improvement performance wise over my launch ps4, I’m not sure if it’s a huge jump for ps pro. Destiny menus are fast to load, something that hasn’t been the case for me in years.
The controller is cool, but in a competitive game the extra force to pull the triggers is a problem. Basically halfway through the pull you get resistance you have to push through. A game like fortnite this makes it a lot harder to play, it would be better if fortnite made it so that the first half of the pull was firing, kinda like a trigger stop on a scuf. The lack of back buttons is really messing with my brain, after 3+ years with a scuf it’s hard to comprehend why I can’t jump and aim at the same time. The scuf won’t work on the ps5, and back buttons aren’t coming soon, I may try and switch the keyboard and mouse.
The controllers real potential is in games similar to Zelda, it would be awesome to have the different resistances in a 1 player game where you could make it feel like drawing a bow or slingshot, maybe an easy pull to jab with a spear but some resistance to pull back and swipe with a sword, could be really cool.
Destiny is still running the ps4 version with the ps5 version coming on the 10th. It’ll up the frames and picture quality while adding a POV slider which will be a nice console enhancement that pc has had forever.
My honest take, unless there’s a ps5 game that’s out or coming out soon that you really want to play, the system can’t do anything the PS4 can’t right now. I personally will keep mine instead of selling it, but if I hadn’t had money set aside to buy it I might be reconsidering that. I’m also going to be playing some 1 player games from PS4 that I never played so it’ll work well for those and cut down on load times significantly.”

I’ve played it a lot since then and am really enjoying how quickly everything loads. I still feel like most gamers can stick with their current systems and not stress about not finding one, in my mind there aren’t any major games that can only be played on PS5, yet. My PSN tag is the same as the forums if anyone ever wants to mess around in some video games.
