Seiko Speedy is arguably one of the best "grab and go" watches one can own. It has great proportions, a timeless design, and a solid overengineered movement. Below is one of the earliest JDM examples from December 1982.

Thank you for posting this -- I did not realize that this is a longstanding offering -- I've been hovering over a current JDM iteration SND367PC. It isn't that expensive but I need another watch like a hole in my head (I realize that is sacrilege here -- don't yell at me I'm new).
