I vividly recall those silly Mercedes / Granada comparison commercials. Who were they trying to kid?!!!
Two things.
You'll never see Ford Granadas (or Chevy Citations, Dodge Aries etc.) featured on classic and vintage car calendars. There's a reason for that and it has to do wretchedness, both then and now.
As a junior loan officer back in late 1970s I was also responsible for delinquent note collections for the more senior lenders. Auto loans were a bigger deal in banking back in the day. We maintained dealer recourse lines with the new car dealers in town I repossessed lots of Granadas and returned them to the Ford dealer. They really didn't resemble Mercedes models of that era at all.

I am very biased! When I was growing up my neighbor had a 81' 300D in Manila Beige(I became obsessed with it over my childhood). Soon my first car became a 1980 Mercedes 240D in "classic white". Obsulutely obessed by old German cars. I saw a Cordoba a few weeks back. I may still have it(don't have a Cordoba)..
Been there done that, around the same time too. Glad to not own a diesel anymore.
Okay, I'll admit, the 240D handled pretty nicely, despite the lack of power.
early Credor?
Hmm i see the resemblance of the logo, but I am unsure. Could it be?
