I went outside for 15 seconds to snap a shot for the what are you wearing thread, here’s the lume absorbing the light after I came inside. Seiko lume is the gold standard, my other fine watches can’t hold a candle to it.

Well I have always been a fan of Seiko because of the great value they provide but always bought Automatics . Today I got my 1st kinetic! A BKL 200m divers with black rubber strap & a 5M62 movement . It feels & looks great and I love it . E4D5D4A4-86C6-490C-B953-A37A5534EC6C.jpeg

My parents had a 1972 Mercedes 200D .I loved that car but it couldn't get out of it's own way . Horrible acceleration.

The 240D acceleration with automatic transmission was not very quick if you gently pressed the pedal down to the first rubber stop, where it acted like a 3-speed automatic. It would fool you into thinking it was floored. But if you mashed the gas pedal down further past the mushy rubber stop, then it dropped down to the actual 1st gear and would accelerate much better. So, it acted like a 3 speed when you drove like grandma, taking off in 2nd gear (torquey) I guess. Still, with about 62-65hp you can't expect much.

A lot of Mercedes and Lexus still lock out first to make the ride more smooth. Quite common I’d bet some jags did too. It has been dying out though as not locking out first gives better mpg.

200d= 2.0 liter diesel even slower than the 240d= 2.4 liter. The w115 chassis is quite pretty though

With mine(4 speed manual) 0-60 is about 18 seconds. Top speed of 89 mph. The freeway is not fun "LUG LUG LUG LUGGGG"(very loud).

Been considering a Seiko quartz powered chronograph. They have been on sale recently for a little over a C note and seem to get good reviews.
    Its the SEIKO SNN079P2.
I'm only wanting one as a beater with chronograph functions. The Water resistance rating is excellent for my purposes since I'm not planning on doing any diving but I will occasionally get wet in fording streams and the often torrential rains I've found myself having to go out in against my better judgement.

Does anyone here own one? Whats the 411?

    PS
My old 327 Turbofire with Hydramatic in my 68 Nomad was all I could wish for. 130+ MPH with pedal to spare after I put a 3/4 cam in it.

    Hey guys,

I’m looking to add a King Seiko 5625 chronometer to the collection. Most of the available specimens are on eBay, from Asia. My understanding is that the region is notorious for redialing. I’ve noticed a couple things about dials from the region. Primarily, the case number in the text of the sale frequently doesn’t correspond to the information on the dial. For example the listing could describe it as a 5625-7000 when the dial shows 5625-7040. Is that common? Here’s an example:

Second, I haven’t found any confirmed examples of untouched dials in my research. Can anyone point me in the right direction for having some benchmarks to compare the eBay listings against? Thanks in advance!

@Jhawlz9989 this one is in @sdre's possession:

    IMG-20180707-WA0012.jpg

With KS and GSes, especially the vintage ones, go for one that has the medallion still intact as they are notoriously hard to come by and don't look great if broken.

The dial, as long as it's within the case number range of 7xxx should be fine as long as the movement number is also the same. The one you have posted is a bit sad with that busted up bezel. The case number may be the same across models and it is the dial variation that leads to a different number. Watches made with the American/global marker also tend to have a slightly different dial/case number, though that variation applies more so to the diver range than these.

You're looking at $250-400USD for a working/good unserviced example these days, and a bit more for serviced and looking great ones. They should still come under $1000USD though.

Best bet is the more specialist forums like wrist sushi or post that question in its own thread in the other watch brands sub forum.
