I started with Seikos and still enjoy and look for the older ones. This is such a great hobby!

they are a wonderful way to get into the hobby.

I've seen some troubling trends though in the last few years with the gradual move up the market of the main brand and the diminution of the GS nameplate with the use of the Spring Drive movements in Seiko branded watches (with the matching GS price).

Interesting point about the Thai day wheels. Never seen a day wheel in Thai script nor the numerals. I'll be emailing the service centre in Bangkok today, I'll ask them.

@Tubber @pongster I love Seikos with a Thai date wheel... the font is quite attractive, IMO... my 6139-6010 from October ‘69

Absolutely over the moon about my newest arrival... a 6139 unicorn, of sorts... a JDM watch made for only a year or so and rumoured to have been for the Japanese Defence Force. Also notable as being the only 6139 with Arabic numerals on the dial. 🥰

Love mine and just bought a Pepsi hoping to arrive soon. Without a doubt the best automatic and robust cool timepiece I love.

I added a new one to the collection today. One-owner and tucked in a drawer for some time... it’s absolute filthy and needs a new crystal and a movement service, but I think it’s going to be awesome 👍

And here it is next to its younger 6309 cousin 😀

Just finished the first Pogue out of four that I have made up from scrappy cases and parts movements for some good friends and myself. Waiting on a nice brown leather strap, a crown and stem assembly and some yellow dye for the chapter ring to arrive and then I can box it up for my friends wedding.

First photo was typical condition of cases and you can see the progress as they went.

3 to go!

And some of my other Seikos, very fond of the brand!

Started off with adoring my father's watches as a child, bought myself an SKX007 and went from there!

Absolutely stunning, thanks for sharing! They have that certain something to them, especially on the steel bracelet!

Underneath that crystal looks like a great set of hands and dial.

Great pick up.
