I had been rocking this 6309 7040 with its original GL831 strap, clinging to the strap through a keeper change when the original keeper dissolved into pieces. Bought a cheap aftermarket imitation strap just to rob it of its keeper so I could continue to wear the original strap. The replacement keeper spontaneously crumbled after only a couple of years.
This time I tried Uncle Seiko and one of his "clearance" GL831 straps. Ordered out two. The oxidation was insignificant, being a slight dusty bloom on the straps' surfaces. A wipe with a damp cloth left no remaining signs of oxidation. Presto ... fixed!
I was grateful for the original strap seen above, but it was tired, worn at the lugs and a bit stiff, yet still somewhat comfortable to wear. The Uncle Seiko GL831 is as comfortable to wear as a worn pair of blue jeans.
Double dog Speedy Tuesday with some color for a grey December day in Cincinnati…1861 and 3861 respectively…my 321 and 861 are at the spa.
Double dipping on double dog Speedy Tuesday! So…I was at the gym working out…and some meat heads were going to kick sand in my face because I could only do one plate on the tricep machine…BUT…they noticed that I was wearing two Speedmasters…and they did not kick sand in my face! YAY!!! 👍👍👍
Deep (sea?) green Seiko turtle case. It was my father's watch, love the reminders it brings including when he bought it duty-free in Fiji when I was ~10. Rios1931 strap.
