On this sad sad day a bit of Great Britain seems appropriate.

A watch that marked the start of her rein with the conquering of My Everest

Goodbye Lizzie and the end of the 2nd Elizabethan age.

In 1951, before her coronation, Princess Elizabeth and Prince Phillip visited Calgary, late in the year. An impromptu rodeo was held in their honour. I remember them seated on a raised dias at the edge of the rodeo arena, out of doors, on a chilly winter morning, warmly dressed, and protected by Hudson’s Bay blankets. The only time I have ever seen her. That was 71 years ago. My, how time flies! Condolences to every one who is touched by her passing.

Bought this as a lark many years ago. I think I paid about $7-8 for it on ebay. Crystal was so scuffed I couldn't properly see the dial. I remember how happy I was when I started sanding, then polishing and buffing the crystal down to see the lovely "starfield" gilt patination that lie beneath. Hand lume was gone and this was either the first or second time I relumed a watch. In later years I got better at matching the hand lume to the dial pips. But this early effort still makes me smile....

Morning folks, it’s a recently purchased Longines today - 1966-67 cal.370. Bought directly from its original owner.

It wears quite small on the wrist, but their vintage pieces are stunning.
