What’s most impressive is that the seconds and minutes hands of each watch are properly synchronized, and the watches are synchronized with each other!

Good fun there! There's not much that can't be solved by the application of high explosives. Unfortunately, that would likely be the way I'd approach watch repair if I encountered any difficulty.
I once enjoyed having a commercial loan customer who quarried rock around these parts of Texas. He invited me out to see them set off a charge. It was amazing! There was a rectangular hole in the ground about the dimensions of an American football field. The bottom of the hole was of solid limestone and perfectly flat on the surface. We retired to hundreds of yards away, down the road and around a hill and the charge(es?) were set off. It sounded (and felt) like a single blast. Stone rained down to within 100 yards of our vehicles, some as large as American footballs.
I remember walking back up the road around the hill to discover a huge, pyramidal mound 80-90 yards long and higher than a two story house sitting in the rectangular hole where it had previously been flat, perfectly heaped up and ready for the crusher.
On the walk back I picked up one of the rocks that rained down near us. It was cold, as if it'd been refrigerated. This was on a Texas summer afternoon with the attendant heat we are prone to "enjoy."
