Wearing two, today. My Rolex Oyster Date-Just, and this treasure. This is a Hamilton, 16-size, 21-jewel, grade 994. Never heard of a grade 994? Well, this is the first one I have ever seen. It is a scarce watch in any condition, but rarely seen in the condition of this one. Hamilton produced 1,001 grade 994s, some being stem set, and the rest being lever set. This one from 1914 is lever set. Double-sunk vitreous enamel, 12-hour dial, original Hamilton marked, gold filled, swing ring case. It has had one repair in its 107 years! It is not mine. I will be showing it to a member of the watch collector fraternity, later today. The owner is offering it for sale, and today might be the day! Shown on my @DaveK mystery braid lanyard.
Mrs Walrus wants banana bread again (with walnuts) the fact that I need to change watches for baking seems to irk her but I must make sure time is followed to the T.
I have a soft spot for jumping hour compilations, especially when they are as elegant as this! - NHC (Nouvelle Horlogerie Calabrese) Ottica - ETA2892-A2 by Vincent Calabrese. The hour is just below the minute pointer. There is a "M" for 12, "T" for 3, "S" for 6 and "N" for 9. The remaining hours are the numbers. The disc with the hours rotates around the dial with the minutes and “jumps” to new hour at 60 minutes.
