A couple years back when I had to start wearing reading glasses I decided to add a flieger to my collection as a beater I could read without having to don my glasses. I’ve been wearing this Parnis for most of the last week and had forgotten how much I liked it. At $84 delivered it is quite the value proposition, IMHO…all stainless steel case, beautifully domed sapphire crystal, display case back, supple thick leather strap with deployment clasp, and powered a Unitas/ETA-based cal. 6497. The cal. 6497 is a pocket watch movement designed in the 1950s and is still used by many manufacturers today in base and highly modified versions. It is also capable of impressive accuracy even in base form. Over the last 5-6 days wearing this Parnis it is well within thirty seconds….and I can read the time without having to put on my glasses. Have a great day, all! Cheers!!

A birth-year watch I picked up from our much-missed expert, Norman, a few years ago (I hope he returns soon). It’s one I’ve considered parting with to fund newer desires but those gorgeous lugs prevent me from letting go.

Just back from service with Mr Freese.

Strap inspiration from @bazamu. Dark brown or black straps seem to wash out these exotic dials. A light tan however compliments it perfectly.
