I find it almost insulting to the intelligence of the poor souls I see sitting in the public defenders office waiting to get a chance to talk to their P.D. I have the desire to ask one of them their thoughts of the quote but the majority of them that I Interact with are very dedicated and show up to fight everyday. One of them had 5 murder cases and a bunch of little cases. How Could someone properly defend 5 murder cases going on at two different courts. But it is not the fault of the public defender as an individual he/she/they are doing the best the can under what must be amazingly stressful conditions. That quote though, gets me every time.
A friend is a defender who specializes in deathrow cases. He has more than a handful at any time. Talk about pressure and stress: He has people's lives in his hands every day.
