I miss my Speedy every Tuesday. <sigh> Hopefully it’s having a good time at the spa, meeting new friends.
Max Bill for this Tuesday. A little Bauhaus goodness.

A lady TISSOT Glamsport mother of pearl dial. Love mother of pearl dials. Sadly quartz - no mecanical or automatic option was available... But I wanted exactly that: sporty with a touch of glamour and... not too much expensive ( don't tell my husband I knew the price, it was a gift, haha!) Love it and wear it most of the time it is perfect for every occasion and not a show-off watch, which I dislike. And I don’t like diamonds on the dial either, nor with gold. Stainless Steel is perfect!

Two Accutrons, today. The first one is my 53 year old Accutron 218 day/date of which I am the second owner. I showed it here several days ago with a black leather strap. I wanted a bracelet on it, so I went through my stash, and found the one that is on it, in the images. It came as part of a job lot I bought from the estate of a deceased collector who used to buy out jewellery stores and watchmaker estates. I have also showed a picture of the sales tag that was on the bracelet container. Price? The tag shows $4.50! I wonder how long this was in a store’s inventory? You can’t buy a cheap nylon strap for that, today.

The second Accutron is my 1967 Accutron Astronaut. This one has had me tearing my hair out for weeks, to try to get it right! On Sunday, I cleaned it for the second time, but this time, I fitted a NOS genuine Accutron 214 index wheel, and adjusted the index jewel spring a teensy bit. With Accutrons, it is my preference to service them, then phase them to operate properly on currently available 1.55-volt batteries. They are readily replaceable, and they last a lot longer than the modern modified Accu-Cell which I find do not last a full year. I have finally succeeded with this one. So, off for the day wearing two watches. Lunch with a brother collector.

Speedy for me today ... and I bumped into this lovely Tudor. The Bezel is very faded so I offered to take it off him at a discount ;0)
