I’m not actually wearing this one today. It was brought to me by a friend of a friend, for servicing. This watch belonged to her late father in law, and it came to the lucky fellow who will receive it as a Christmas gift. He had forgotten about it, and when his wife happened on it, she decided it would make an excellent gift.
The serial number places it circa 1958, so it is about 63 years old, and certainly doesn’t show it. The watch appears to have been serviced twice before it came to me, but it appears to have had very little wear. It is an Omega calibre 501, automatic, with waffle dial, and onyx inlay in the dial indexes. I have replaced the mainspring, crystal, cleaned up a bit of rust, and conditioned it. He’s a lucky guy!
