Well, I said farewell to the two watches, today (Thursday). The fellow I spoke of, whom I met about 35 years ago when I sold him a Rolex for his father, came today to pick up the two watches in the story. I was custodian of these watches for those 35 years. I recalled the family name, went to our phone directory, and by luck, It was his phone I reached. He was thrilled to retrieve the 83-year old J W Benson wrist watch that had been his grandfather鈥檚, then his father鈥檚, and also his father鈥檚 57-year old Accutron. When he got here, he was wearing a Smart watch! I hope he enjoys these family watches.
You didn鈥檛 just pull a u-turn when you saw the smartwatch? 馃榿
A seriously nice gesture @Canuck. Without overstating it, such out-of-the-blue kindness has the ability to turn someone鈥檚 life around. 馃憤
When he got here, I asked him if he was wearing the Rolex he and his mother bought for his father, 35 years ago. He apologized when he showed me the Smart watch. At least it wasn鈥檛 a Swatch!
