A CK2998 Blue Panda that came out in 2016, I bought it from an AD in 2018, it had been in his display case for two years with no takers. Nice discount, too.

Yes, it’s 2:07 a.m…..baking a couple of loaves of banana-nut bread for the nine friends and family vacationing with me. Time to crash. Love life, my friends…everyday. Cheers!

Earlier today, and earlier in the week, I posted this watch in the WRUW thread. The saga continues.

Up until 32 years ago, I was in retail jewellery, working for a jeweller that was a Rolex dealer. A young man (younger than I was) and his mother came into the store and bought the father a Rolex. A week or two later, the father came in to have his bracelet adjusted. At that time, he gave me an English 9 karat J W Benson wrist watch that his father had given him as a memento, when he emigrated to Canada, in 1958. The Benson is from 1933. He also gave me the pictured Accutron. He wanted me to have them because his son (who was wearing a new ceramic Rado), wasn’t interested in them. He had worn the Benson for years, until he bought himself the pictured Accutron in the mid 1960s.

I’ve had these watches for over 35 years. It occurred to me recently, that, if I could contact the son, and offer these two watches to him, that he might just be interested. I went to my 35 year old phone index, and quickly located the name of the family. I went to the phone book, and lo and behold, the son’s name (same as his father’s name), was there. I phoned and left him a somewhat vague message, and asked him to call me back. He just did. The pieces all fit! He is now wearing his late father’s Rolex, and was delighted that I would offer to return to the rightful owner, the two family watches. This will take place next week.

The Accutron shows in my earlier post, and here is the J W Benson (Tavannes).

You sir are a Top Man…..what great thing to do … back with the original family ..
