Remington Rand was a manufacturer of typewriters and business machines. During World War II they produced the largest quantity of Model 1911A1 pistols of all the wartime 1911A1 contractors, including Colt itself. They'd not ventured into firearms manufacture before, but their pistols were highly esteemed for workmanship and serviceability.
They even sold a line of watches at one time. Has anyone ever seen a Remington Rand watch?
I'm guessing this is a A. Schild automatic movement. Do any experts recognize it?
Even with an unknown service history the Remington Rand is keeping really good time for the past couple of days. I'll put it up now until I get around to sending it for service.
Looks to me like an A Schild calibre 1361 movement. A very popular auto wind movement from the early 1960s. A division made Remington shavers. An entrepreneur named Victor Kyam bought a Remington razor and liked it so well, he bought the company. He also bought the Benrus Watch Co. Lots of connections to Remington.
