A beautiful piece - perfect diameter, dial is elegant and caseback rim is wonderful - although I would have liked a solid caseback with an engraved hippocampus, it competes a bit with clear backing showing mechanism. Were you lucky enough to purchase it in Italy?
Zenith A788 El Primero '71-72ish
In reality, the hippocampus is very faintly etched on the inside of the back crystal -- normally it is barely visible and it was difficult to find an angle to photograph it so its form could be seen.
Yes, I purchased this watch at the OB on San Marco square in Venice. I was in Italy for my 60th birthday, which also happened to be the 60th anniversary of the year that Omega chose the hippocampus to be a symbol for its Professional line of watches. And the hippocampus was chosen because it is a symbol seen frequently in Venice (on gondolas, for example), which was the home port of many expeditions to the far corners of the World during the golden age of exploration.
