This one has appeared here before. Gruen was an American company that used mostly Swiss movements. This one is an exception. The movement is a 23-jewel self winder made by the German maker, Durowe. Durowe and Laco were associated. Laco being a major supplier to the German armed forces during WWII. This watch has a 14-karat gold shell over stainless steel case, and was a quality watch in the mid to late 1950s. Last time I showed it, it was on a period correct, gold filled “scissor” link bracelet. I lucked into this two-piece, tapered bracelet recently, and it was looking for a job. So I put it on the Gruen.
