168005 561 1964. With 14mm end length 1960s strap fitted to old Omega buckle found at a flea last weekend. Gives the Connie a whole new feel. Lovely sunny afternoon in NY.

I came home early as I need to remove some plumbing, sink and electrical. At 8am tomorrow I’m having new counters delivered want to have everything ready to go. I took off my alpanist and started working on it but I needed to stop and get my vostok. I can’t do home improvement/disasters without it, it’s tradition now

(In thick Russian accent). Watch brings you luck while fixing home. Very good, comrade! I have tradition when wear Vostok, must speak with strong Russian accent.

I’ve been wearing my recently rescued Gruen manual wind day/date since September 28, after conditioning it, fitting a new crystal, and new crown. That’s 53 days by my reckoning. As of today, it is 12 seconds slow! Early in October, I did a minor regulation and re-set it. So it is about 45 days without re-setting. That averages out to about a 1 second loss in 4 days! At one point, it was about 5 seconds fast. Pretty good time keeping for a watch that is close to 60 years old, and a non-chronometer.

I got a message today from my lovely Omega AD rep asking if I was interested in a platinum 321 looking for a home. I considered for a bit, declined, and sought comfort in my Soyuz meteorite stand-in.

Thinking how it might look on a black alligator strap.
