Very special piece today. This TAG-Heuer was the first watch my father gave me, a birthday gift when I was 15. I never knew this about him until after he passed (in 2009), but apparently he was very interested in watches, and used to frequently buy them as gifts for friends and colleagues. That's him in the background, 2nd Armored Division, Combat Command B, taken during their drive across France, Belgium and Germany as "the tip of the spear."
This watch was thought lost, then found, and has since followed me from Prague-->Vienna-->Georgia-->Mississippi-->Virginia--> northern Canada-->Nottingham and finally, back home to London, where I was born. Just got a new movement, courtesy of the peerless Brendan Hoey, and it's once again "fit for duty."
Thanks, dad, for everything--as promised, I've kept it safe and running strong.
BONUS STATEMENT OF THE DAY: “Girls go to college to get more knowledge...boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider”
NOTE: I always thought it would be cool to add some sort of thing about Uranus in the above bonus statement of the day but could never quite make it rhyme...dang. 😁
A little story with this shot. I stopped by one of our clients homes to deliver medication. He was telling me how well his garden is doing outback. I asked to see it then as we made our way he froze. I kinda figured what was up, we went anyway I guess he was hoping I wouldn’t notice the pot plants he forgot to put in the basement. It puts me in a little dilemma as now I need to figure out if I should talk to his doc who prescribes the stuff we give him but tbh he is not on heavy duty psychotropics so it’s one of those things that I could pretend I didn’t see, except now I posted it on the www. So plausible deniability is out the window. Yes this is the same watch on the same day shot but I think under the circumstances it is an interesting pic and worthy of a double posting
