·I’ve been wearing this one pretty much continually for the last couple weeks, since the thread An Accutron Each Day. Why continually? Nothing like an old Accutron to keep you humble when you think you can’t be challenged! And this one has been a challenge! Made in 1970, so 1/2 a century old. The index wheel on these is 0.095” in diameter with 300 teeth around the perimeter. These teeth are each 1/1,000 of an inch in size, That wheel is operated by a microscopic index jewel and pawl jewel, each on a microscopic beryllium spring, each of which is about 0.10” long. One spring is pegged to a post on the tuning fork, and the other is on an adjustable cam to permit, well, adjusting. The tuning fork operates at 360 hertz, and the pawl jewel moves back and forth just over 1 /1000 of an inch, causing the index wheel to advance 360 teeth each second, the index jewel preventing the wheel from backing up. With a troublesome b _ _ __ r like this one, I use 50 x magnification to adjust these jewels so they interact correctly with the index wheel. I think I finally have it!
