Today I shall wear the thinner of these two. The classic 168.005 pie pan and the 5441 Portuguese.
The difference in width is obvious, 34 vs 42mm.
    5441 ws 1 20200318_083509.jpg

The 5441's movement with it's pocket watch ancestry is wider than the entire pie pan's case!
    5441 ws 2 20200318_083648.jpg

But how about their thicknesses? Here we go.

That's right, the Port is amazingly thin...YaY!

I can never seem to capture a good picture of this watch.
None of them ever represent it well. I blame the lighting in my office.

When thin was in.....Piquette powered by a very thin Peseux 7000 series movement, the basis for a number of other calibres -- e.g., Junghans J815, Montblanc MB23.01, Omega 651, among others.

I really like it, I recommended Nomos as a Brand to many of my friends but never bought one myself.::facepalm2::
It wears great on my small wrist and due to the very thin case (under 7mm) it fits easy under a cuff.
The movement has a finishing that I find pleasent and overall it feels solid and well build. I really like that the details are well done. The coolest part of this Ref.173 is the black dial, that is less comon than the white and the moving power reserve. If you can get one used you are having a great deal.

I have a weakness for dress watches and will wear them most anytime or anywhere, save scuba diving or doing yard work. I bought the Piquette through an online auction. I had never heard of the brand, nor could I identify the movement from the photos, which were lousy. There was virtually no descriptive text about the watch in the auction listing...no info about the case material. The original case back had been replaced with a crystal. What actually made me decide to bid on the watch was curiosity about two apparent punch marks, one on the back of the watch and the other on a lug, which were impossible to make out from the auction photos. Could they possibly be the head of Helvetia (18K)? The marks turned out not to be Helvetia, but a squirrel (14K). Very happy with the watch all the same.

Ebony and ivory... living in perfect harmony. Why can’t watch owners? I think Sir Paul McCartney said that.

New strap arrived today. I think it suits the 60th Speedmaster very well.
