No - they were all born healthy. Everything else are afterthought publicity stunts. The original spin doctors were Italian semi professional Rolex dealer "enthusiasts" who somehow got people to actually pay more for watches with damaged dials. This con trick has then spread to other makes.
Personally I can appreciate a nice patina. I would however never pay more for it than a good dial...
