I don't think it is a faux pas for a left handed person. Now wearing it so the face is on the inside of the wrist is a faux pas.
I know one is not supposed to wear a tool watch with a suit, but taking a photo of a cemetery is also pretty much against the rules as well. That's me, "Mr. Iconoclasm"
