I’ve read that Gruen took cues from pieces like the Breitling Super Ocean and from Blancpain in the late 50’s when these were launched. Some people speculate that there was some type of partnership between Breitling and Grun, but that is not true. As for Rado, I’d say they took elements from pieces like these as they are mid to late 60’s.
