Spent some delightful sunny hours at the club rifle range this afternoon with nothing more than a 1958 vintage Remington Model 514 single-shot .22 rifle picked up fairly recently which appears never to have been used since it was new. Most similar rifles of this model are pretty well used and shabby. The rifle still felt new, as if it will smooth up once broken in.

Had just returned home from voting on ten proposed constitutional amendments here in Texas. Walked to the polling place from home and arrived at 5:45. Departed at 7:30. Stopped by the grocery store on the walk home. Won't vote at the last minute again.
