1967 was a fine year for Bulova! Bulova Snorkel Model J - Ref. 11403W - Cal. 11ALAC & Accutron Astronaut GMT - (Swiss Made Version), Tuning Fork 214H

Those could make me buy a Bulova. Nice.

Looking forward to a day on the water with my trusty 007
Didn't Bond use an undersized strap, 16mm perhaps?

Many of you will know better than me, but I’ve guessed that this is a DC3 preparing for the D Day anniversary flying over Hampstead Heath

I'd say you're right. Late morning there was a Spitfire in invasion stripes flying over Newmarket at about angels 2 (cherubs 20 if you prefer). Heading north so I'm guessing BBMF rather than one of the Duxford based ones.

Thanks for this. When I got home I checked my newspaper which stated that there was to be a flight of Douglas C47s. No doubt the aeronautical experts on OF can distinguish the two models.

This one again... we've "bonded" rather quickly. Black repro tropic strap just fitted.

Commercial version is the Douglas DC3 (Douglas Commercial), millitary version in the USA was the Douglas C47 (not much logic to military designations but C is normally cargo), UK military designation was Dakota, prefering names to numbers. The same basic aircraft, just variations in fit-out. More info: http://www.airvectors.net/avc47.html

I could have flown in a DC3 as a regular commercial flight but stupidly didn't. I did hear a few times "Your instructor is taking the DC3 to Washington. He'll be back in less than an hour." On return instructor leaps into the mighty Piper PA28 Cherokee that I've pre-flighted and berates me for forgetting everything I've ever learned since the last instruction session....

..... standard patter for instructors 🙁
