After nearly two weeks of wearing a $20 Casio while working in my short-staffed warehouse, I'm back to this. I feel like going sailing. 馃槈

I went out this morning wearing my 55 Dennison Omega and came home with an 1888 Waltham as a bonus.

Out strolling with Frau Fritz this afternoon, playing hooky from work. Found this in an antique store for the equivalent of about $120US, an 18 size Waltham in a hardly worn case. I'd have paid the money just for the case but the movement is running strong and keeping good time. I'll get it serviced and fall in love all over again.

The Waltham factory records show this thing going out the door in the fall of 1888. How the hell does something last over 130 years and show so little wear?

ReallyI would have bought it for the case alone for that money.

Or even a bit more.

And it's even an adjusted grade, meeting the requirement of a lot of railroads of the time.

It would appear to be an 1883 model, not an1888. The 1888 is totally different. It is possible it was MADE in 1888. Walthammovements are identified by the patent date, not the year of manufacture. AOK in any event
