Wearing the German made Laco (not Lanco) again today. The German firm Laco started out marketing Swiss watches, and was a major supplier to the German military during WW II. They acquired the German watch manufacturer Durowe. Laco-Durowe thereafter marketed German made watches. Durowe was acquired by Timex at one point, after Durowe began producing battery watches. After acquiring Laco-Durowe, Timex began marketing their first battery powered watches with Durowe movements, early in the 1960s. This watch has a 17-jewel Durowe manual wind movement in it. Laco-Durowe was eventually absorbed by SSIH.
Brought the Mimo-Loga in for needed service. What I thought was a broken mainspring turned out to be a damaged mainspring arbor that allowed the barrel to twist as it was wound. Fortunately, my watchmaker seemed entirely undeterred. Also brought in that Ed with lint under the crystal for a proper service. I had been wearing the grey-blue dialed 165.002 all day. But, put this on half an hour ago. It’s a real luxury, changing watches during the day. [Edit: 40 minutes later, switched back...I love this Seamaster!] Watch confusion is a not-uncommon illness amongst watch gluttons.
Ok, here’s my “Wittnauer Wednesday” addition lol not sure it’s a popular enough brand for its own day of the week, Dougie...
Custom watch made for me by my dad @zinengineer ...for those interested in WRUD, Lagavulin neat in the glass.
This one on for legibility and comfort, plus that very special dial and case finish: Almost as stunning as it's older sibling, the -7000:
