One of the many joys of retirement is breakfasting at this time of day, made even better having the old 'Snorkel' for company
Decided on a modern watch today. I like the iconic dial on this one coupled with a bezel that used to be in the train door from one of the trains that worked the line before the Gottardo Tunnel was opened in 2016. It has quite a nice caseback too.
It's not vintage, but I have had it over 10 years...that's something, right? Speedmaster on a Tuesday...hey, maybe this could be a thing
From the Decades Box... ... the original 105.012 Moonwatch today... YaY! I always enjoy how the chrono second's hair thin tip curves down to meet the 5ths of seconds chapter, contributing to that measurement device look.
Love that you refer it to a modern watch. Although the watch is contemporary, the design of the dial dates from 1944. From Wkipedia: The Swiss railway clock was designed in 1944 by Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss engineer and SBB employee, together with Moser-Baer, a clock manufacturer, for use by the Swiss Federal Railways as a station clock. In 1953, Hilfiker added a red second hand in the shape of the baton used by train dispatch staff. It truly was a revolutionary and timeless design.
