OMG. I almost forgot to post a full moon this cycle! Fortunately, that wheel advances at noon, so I’m still okay. I still consider this one of my best buys and it’s a franken. Btw, note the bezel change. Below is the full moon posting from August. The bezel it came with always bothered me, as it was later than the Speedymoons. But, the drop chrono hand, which is also wrong, I actually prefer. Go figure. Anyway, this is why I’m willing to wear my DON bezels; otherwise, looking at the WRONG bezel would just bother me all day.
I did an early pivot from my Speedmaster to my GMT Master II BLRO. Bad lighting has robbed this pic of the normally vibrant colors.
I've organized a first-time-ever local get-together for this afternoon with two local collectors. Here's what I'm bringing for show-and-tell.
Nothin like a freebie , wife's friend brought this round today & said if I can fix it it's mine . So one new battery & one old strap later it's on my wrist . I did ring my wife's friends husband & offer the watch back , but he said keep it as he didn't like it now & was going to throw it away .
Found this today in an antique shop. I asked the lady if she minded me giving it a wind. She said, "No.". So, I did and it took right off. I told her I was trying to be more selective on my buys and this was smaller than I normally wear, but since any approximately 80 yr old watch that works impresses me I would buy it if it was still running on my way back by her shop, after my errands. I took a second and set the time and gave it a couple of extra winds before giving it back to her. 2 and a half hours later, when I got back to the shop, not only was the watch running, it had kept perfect time. Obviously, it came home with me. Just under $16 for an 80 year old trooper. I believe from quick online research it is a nickel case and a 6 jewel movement. It wears larger than its 30mm size. I am not sure if it is the cushion case shape or just my eye. Thanks for reading. McK
