That back-door 3-ball break is one of my specialties. The 1-ball goes in the side roughly every third attempt. It's really a called shot.
Try it yourself. Place the cue ball one ball in from the rail at the string line diamond, then aim just behind the center diamond on the back rail with a touch of upper right English. Hit firmly but not hard. With a little practice, you should be able to get the 1-ball in the side fairly often.
Here's a three-rail attempt on the 8-ball in a game of bank-the-8.
Don't have the upper body strength to make masse and jump shots, so I compensate by banking and kicking.
Re pro players: love Ronnie, and worship Alex, but my favorite of all time is The Miz.
