Was meant to be picking something dressy up today but the watchmaker is still waiting on a part to arrive. Therefore this beauty is still on the wrist.
IWC 5441 in steel, ...and a pic of the SS/RG/PT set I got to drool over at a GTG a few years ago, which got me hooked to get mine. YaY!
This 5513 (ca 1977, with pre-Comex maxi dial) arrived yesterday covered in grime, with a badly scratched crystal. After some clean-up last night, I can't resist wearing it a bit today before taking it to my watchmaker. Fortunately, I was able to salvage the domed crystal with successive grades of fine sandpaper (1500- and 2000-grit) followed by Novus 2. As the cheesy dealers say in their listings, "This is no safe-queen!". Very well-worn, banged-up, and faded ... but running and intact (except for the incorrect bracelet). I think the look may grow on me. For now, I'm just going to have my watchmaker do a full service.
This was my first automatic watch quite some years ago. As time passed I started wearing it less and less until it sat in a drawer for the past couple of years. I found it again today and enjoyed the heck out of wearing it! . Honest watch with a great bang for buck ratio in my book.
