Another installment in the saga of the two eBay Eds

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/updated-irresistible-impulse-two-105-003-65-ebay-buys.79624/

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/two-ebay-ed-whites-part-two-they-arrive.79926/

Well, I made a command decision today.

The brown strap did not look right on the Istanbul Ed White. It really needed the steel 1125 bracelet that was already on the U.K. Ed White. Its lume is off white and the bezel is slightly ghosted - all greys.

And, come to think of it, it was a shame that the steel bracelet did nothing to offset the browned lume on the U.K. Ed.

So, I did it. I swapped the bracelet to the Istanbul Ed and put a different B & R band (lighter brown) on the U.K. Ed.

    I’m pleased with the result.

So far, I think I was very lucky with these two eBay purchases. After service and minor remediations, they both run well and are pleasing to the eye.

I still can’t decide which I prefer; each has different strengths. But I’ve pretty much decided that their parts are going to stay with the watches they came with — I don’t have the heart to abuse them by trying to make one great watch out of them (and one mediocre one).

Worst, I know I shouldn’t keep them both, but I really want to.

I’m all for the craic myself ;) ( That’s Irish for taking the piss btw ) :) I have had a few Panerais over the years. I must admit I liked them but all three needed watchmaker intervention due to mechanical issues. That was way more than any other marque I’ve owned. I just don’t think they are as resilient as any Omega I’ve ever had. Just MHO. No offence intended to any Panerai owners here. In fact, I’d definitely consider another one at some stage.

Date night and got questions about it today so it seemed like a good idea. Pulled it out for the last out door symphony performance of the year.

It’s a gym day today so just an Apple Watch :) It’s a great tool for that but doesn’t exactly instill any asthetic pleasure. Apologies :-(

Seiko Saturday with the Marinemaster “Yakushima”. Started the day on the steel bracelet:

Wrapped up the day on its new OEM Seiko waffle strap (original to the Marinemaster SBDX017):
