··Home For Wayward WatchesMy long ignored mid-70s Omega (pre-Swatch) caliber 1345 Seamaster. Not everyone’s grail watch (anyone’s?), but condition alone makes this a nice one to have, and part of the evolution of Omega. Relatives to this one are a pain to set the time and calendar on. And I have to re-train myself every time I wear it. Seconds and minute hand are pus-button re-set. The hour hand is individually settable, and setting the day is done by repeatedly setting the hour hand until the correct day is displayed. Then the date is set by repeatedly pushing a button at the 4:00 position. Fortunately, this cumbersome method of setting your Omega was not around for too long!
I'm glad to read of the method for setting the watch. It is too cumbersome to take seriously. Date/date doesn't really do it for me but otherwise the dial is quite nice, understated and neatly executed. Don't suppose Omega of the era offered a similar dial as a time-only mechanical watch?
