Speedy Tuesday! 👍

In addition, after more than three years of ridiculously fun modern Speedy Gonzales Moonwatch ownership, my beloved Omega replica NASA strap [which is part of my Moonwatch presentation box set and my favorite strap] has worn out. More specifically, the “hook” portion of the Velcro is failing and many of the hooks have broken off due to repeated use, therefore, watch security on the wrist is an issue.

After much thought, I decided to give it the old college try tonight [at zero hundred something hours in the morning on Speedy Tuesday] and attempt to replace the failing Velcro hooks with new adhesive backed Velcro hooks.

First, I prepped the existing Velcro hook surface by cutting off the existing hooks with a nail clipper [which took about an hour] for a relatively uniform surface...the hook rubble pile is pictured below...

Next, I sized, cut and installed the new adhesive backed Velcro hooks. The sizing and cutting is slightly narrower than the strap so that the adhesive doesn’t interfere with the border stitching on the strap...I’m attempting to think ahead so that when the new Velcro hooks wear out in a few years and are peeled off, the border stitching will remain intact...

Hot dog...just in time for Speedy Tuesday...YAY! 👍

There is a purity in vintage wrist watches, watches that are no longer in production. These time pieces have a lot of character and history, its reputation and desirability established and set by watch enthusiasts and not by paid voices or paid advertisements to promote them.

I've no doubt it does ... I was going purely on the hands and the shape of the lume. Lovely "lived-in" example.

Thanks ... I've made a decision not to risk a trip to the UK.(Even though she's made two trips to and from on my wrist!) . I've serviced the movement and will leave it as is. She's not perfect but runs like a well tuned machine.
