After buying my Speedmaster last year, I decided I don't need anymore mechanical chronographs. But for around $200, I find it hard to resist. And I get a see-through case back!

Yes, this what how I understood it as well. I specifically asked to have my old Passport back with the Visa page not stamped “cancelled” so I could contjnue using it. However, I’ve had conflicting information and the local visa office / embassy could not “guarantee” it would be accepted so I opted for the safe route of getting a new one. Hopefully my new 10 year Visa gets me through more than 1.5 years before it is filled up.

I was in your position and my Visa was still honored. Just brought the full passport with me, along with my new one.

This was 2015.

An 1888 model. Don’t see a lot of them. That is nice!

I ended up opting for the safe route as I’ll be leaving Thailand together with a large group of colleagues and I can’t take the risk of being denied entry or having a delay.

I ended up driving to Toronto last Tues and getting a new one Visa overnight. Trip was well worth it as I managed to stop by and chat with @Archer for a while on the way home. It was great meeting him in person and seeing his workshop. He is every bit the knowledgeable gentleman I expected him to be and he was very kind to entertain me as he did.

As a bonus I got to see the inside workings of my Speedmaster (modified to Apollo XI dial) for the first time and confirm it’s water resistance with a pressure test.

It's due to get up to 27 degrees in London. Normally I'd avoid rubber in that heat, unless I've copious amounts of talc. This one gets a pass though.
