Not sure if it was issued or if he had to buy it but he acquired it around when he went to Rockhampton after he joined the Australian Army due to the Japanese taking everything down to PNG, thankfully both for us and the Japanese they never made it this far. Invading North Queensland and the Northern Territory would have made the Russian front look like a cakewalk by comparison.
